Yumiko Yokoi is composer, musician, pianist (a little), who studied in Tokyo-Paris-Geneva, who loves classical-romantic-modern-contemporary music.Born in Japan, she started composition at the Kunitachi College of Music (Tokyo, Japan), music theory and orchestration at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (France) in particular with Thierry Escaich and Marc-André Dalbavie.

She also studied with Allain Gaussin in Paris, then completed her training of composition and electronics in master's degree at the Haute École de Musique de Genève (Switzerland) with Michael Jarrell, Luis Naon and Eric Daubresse, and conducting class with Laurent Gay. She also followed the computer music course at IRCAM in 2009-10.She participated to the Centre Acanthes (France), Journées Contrechamps (Switzerland), Takefu International Music Festival (Japan), Académie Musicale de Villecroze (France), Voix Nouvelles de la Fondation Royaumont (France) and she is invited to numerous festivals like Musica (Strasbourg, France), Archipel (Geneva, Switzerland) etc.

Her works are performed by Brussels Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Ensemble Recherche, Contrechamps, Linea, Multilatérale, musiciens of Klangforum Wien... etc. In 2008 she received the 25th JSCM (ISCM Japanese Section) Award for Composers, then scholarship awards from the city of Geneva and the Fondation Patiño. She is also winner of the fourth edition of the Young Composers' Forum ['tactus 2010-11] (Belgium)
