Fabián Panisello (Spain)


Benet CasablancasAn Argentinian-Spanish composer and conductor resident in Madrid, Fabián Panisello is the founding director of PluralEnsemble, and Academic Director of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía and the Instituto Internacional de Música de Cámara in Madrid.
He studied composition with Francisco Kröpfl in Buenos Aires and with Bogusław Schaeffer in the Mozarteum of Salzburg (Diploma of Excellence, 1993). He completed his formation with Elliott Carter, Franco Donatoni, Brian Ferneyhough and Luis de Pablo in composing, and with Peter Eötvös in conducting.
His works have been performed by artists such as Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvös, Arditti Quartet, Susanna Mälkki, Dimitri Vassilakis, Allison Bell, Laia Falcón, Marco Blaauw, Leigh Melrose and Francesco D’Orazio, and ensembles such as the Orchestra of the Südwestrundfunk (Baden-Baden), the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester of Berlin, the Orquesta Nacional de España, the Orchestra of the Mozarteum of Salzburg, the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico, amongst others.
He has won prizes such as the Mozarts Erbe, awarded by the City of Salzburg, or the Premio Iberoamericano de Composición ‘Rodolfo Halffter’, as well as being granted scholarships by numerous foundations, including the Scholarship of the Rector of the Mozarteum of Salzburg. Since 2010 he is a member of the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes of Argentina.
As composer and conductor, he has performed in the principal festivals of the world dedicated to contemporary music, such as Wien Modern, Donaueschingen, Munich Bienal, Warsaw Autumn Festival, Présences, Musica of Strasbourg, Ars Musica, Ultraschall, Aspekte, Manca, Spazio Musica, the cycle of contemporary music of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Klangspuren Tirol, as well as, in Spain, the Quincena Musical Donostiarra. He has participated as co-conductor in the world premières of Karlheinz Stockhausen, Hoch-Zeiten and Mixtur-2003, with the orchestras of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk of Cologne and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester of Berlin.
He has premièred numerous works and recorded with labels such as NEOS and col legno (Munich), Cypres (Brussels) or Verso (Spain). His music is published by Editorial Peters in Frankfurt.
