Kaori Nishii


Kaori Nishii was born in Tokio and received her first piano lessons at the age of three.
She studied piano, chamber musik, and vocal accompaniment at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität with H.Medjimorec,
F. Zettl, J. Kropfitsch and D. Lutz.
Master courses with O. Meisenberg, L.Berman, P. Gililow.
She has won numerous prizes and scholarships including the Erika Chary Förderpreis ( 2000, 2002), the Bösendorfer stipendium (2001), the Alban Berg Award (2001), the second prizes in the 1. Dr. J. Dichler pianocompetition and in the 7. international competition J.Brahms in Austria.
Since 2004 she has been teaching at the University of Musik and Performing Arts Vienna.
She regularly gives concerts as a soloist and as a chamber musician in several countries of Europe and Japan. She has performed at many Festivals such as „Moscow autumn“ , „Yamaha centenial concert“ , „Meister Konzerte in St. Pölten“, “Feldkirchfestival“, „Wien Modern“, „ Carinthischer Sommer“ „ Lange Nacht der Europäischen Musik“
In her extensive repertoire she puts special emphasis on first- and second Wiener Schule and contemporary music.
She has collaporated with many contemporary composers of „ÖGZM“, „ IGNM“, „ÖKB“, „Ambitus für neue Musik“ „tonWerke“ and „Circle“ and has premiered over 100 works. Numerous radio- and CD recordings.
